OUR FEES

An important question on hiring a lawyer is “how much will this cost?” When hiring an attorney, you are paying for legal experience and education, as well as for a competent support staff and overhead. Fees are based on several factors. These factors include: 1) the time and labor required; (2) the novelty and difficulty of the issue; (3) the skills needed to perform the legal service properly; (4) the preclusion of other employment by the attorney due to acceptance of the case; (5) the customary fee; (6) whether the fee is fixed or contingent; (7) time limitations imposed by the client or the circumstances; (8) the amount involved and the results obtained; (9) the experience, reputation, and ability of the attorneys; (10) the undesirability of the case; (11) the nature and length of the professional relationship with the client; and (12) awards in similar cases.

Fees can be an awkward discussion for attorneys and potential clients. However, it is important that you reach a specific understanding with an attorney concerning the fees and costs to be charged. This avoids misunderstandings. If any attorney does not discuss fees with you, be sure to bring up the subject yourself.

The fees and costs to be charged can only be determined after a thorough discussion and understanding of your legal issue or matter. With the exception of contingency fees for injury and other matters, our fees and costs are payable in full and in advance of filing any action or performing any service.
